Your mornings stay on your phone.
Sunup is an alarm with one daily mission attached. It does not need an account, it does not run analytics inside the app, and everything you type into it is stored on your device. This page says exactly what that means.
What the app stores, and where
Alarms, alarm times and sounds, missions (the note you write, your “why”, what counts as done, optional steps), streaks and completion history, your chosen theme, and your settings are saved in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to us. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. If you use iCloud device backup, Apple may include the app’s data in your backup under Apple’s own privacy terms.
What the app does not collect
- No account, email address, name or password. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health or motion data.
- No advertising identifiers and no ad networks.
- No usage analytics, crash reporting or tracking SDKs inside the app.
Notifications and alarms
Sunup asks for notification permission so the alarm can ring while the app is closed and so your mission can sit on the Lock Screen as a Live Activity until you mark it done. On iOS 26 it may also ask for alarm permission (AlarmKit) so the alarm can sound through Silent mode and Focus. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not run a push server and cannot send you anything remotely.
Opening other apps
A mission can link out to an app you already use (for example Duolingo, Anki, Headspace, Day One or Kindle). Sunup only asks iOS whether that app is installed and then hands you over to it. Nothing about your activity in those apps comes back to Sunup.
Subscriptions
Sunup Pro is sold through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or your Apple ID. To check whether a purchase is active, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives a random per-install identifier and the App Store receipt. That identifier is not linked to your name, email or any other personal detail, because we hold none. Manage or cancel a subscription in your iPhone Settings under your Apple ID, then Subscriptions.
The website and the waitlist
If you join the waitlist on sunup-nine.vercel.app, the email address you enter is stored so we can send you the TestFlight invite and launch news. The website uses PostHog to record the sign-up and basic, cookie-free page analytics (page views, referrer, rough country from IP). Reply to any email from us to be removed from the list, or write to the address below.
Children
Sunup is not directed at children under 13 and knowingly collects no personal information from anyone. Because the app stores nothing about you on our side, there is nothing for us to delete on request; removing the app removes the data.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. For the app the answer is almost always “nothing, it’s on your phone”; for the waitlist we will remove your email on request.
Changes
If Sunup ever starts collecting something new, this page will change first and the effective date above will move. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
